MBSR 8-Week Program


Orientation & Interview: Thursday, August 29, 2019 | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Thursday Evenings: September 5, 2019 — October 24, 2019 | 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Silent Retreat: Saturday, October 12, 2019 | 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM

Note: While it is important for participants to attend all nine sessions, Session 4 on September 26th is mandatory. If you are unable to attend this session, please consider another program offering.

Who Should Attend

MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is designed for anyone suffering from chronic (ongoing) stress, illness, or pain, who wishes to increase their overall health and well-being through the cultivation of a daily mindfulness practice. MBSR has proven beneficial to individuals experiencing the following issues:

  • Stress relating to work, finances, family, and relationships

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Stress-related illnesses

  • Depression

  • Living on auto-pilot

  • Compassion fatigue

  • Chronic pain

  • Burnout

Format

The MBSR program consists of eight 2.5-hour weekly sessions and a full-day silent retreat. Prior to the start of the course, there is a mandatory orientation session. This is an opportunity for participants to determine their suitability for undertaking the program. A commitment to attendance and home practice activities is required. Participants are also expected to attend the day-long silent retreat.

Each class is comprised of mindful practices, some didactic instruction, and group discussion. Above all, emphasis is placed on developing an individual mindful practice that is both formal and informal, and that will serve as a strong foundation for practitioners beyond the course.

Mindfulness practices include, but are not limited to: sitting meditations, body scans, mindful movement and gentle hatha yoga, and mindful eating.

Fee:  $475 (+HST)

Cancellation Policy

You must provide a minimum of 5 business days’ notice prior to the program’s start date to receive the full tuition less a $50 fee. If you provide less than 5 business days’ notice prior to the start date of a program, no refund will be issued. Once the program has begun no refunds will be issued.
