If you’re struggling to manage the stressors in your life, or you're looking for a safe and effective alternative to pharmaceuticals to help cope with stress and its associated conditions, Forest City Mindfulness offers affordable, scientifically-supported programs that dramatically improve quality of life. We also offer corporate programs and retreats aimed at improving employee focus, efficiency, and engagement.
Delivering a range of industry-leading, evidence-based programs, all our offerings are secular in nature and led by qualified, experienced and caring teachers. Our inviting studio is equipped with everything you’ll need for an optimal mindfulness experience. (Just bring water and slippers!)
Centrally located in the heart of Wortley Village, we are fully accessible, on major bus routes, and offer free, on-site parking.
Our mission is to bring the transformative benefits of mindfulness to the mainstream through our simple, secular and scientific programs.
What is Mindfulness?
By dictionary definition, mindfulness is “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations.” Mindfulness does not involve any evaluation, interpretation or judgment. In other words, mindfulness is awareness of perception that focuses on “being” rather than “doing.”
Sounds simple? It is. But it’s called a practice for a reason. The benefits of mindfulness are real, but it’s not a magic pill. Like any other program, you only experience results when you regularly apply the techniques in a consistent manner. If you can do that, a mindful practice can transform your life. The good news is, we are all capable of learning this essential skill.
